Welcome to Suffolk Dog School, set up in 2024 by dog behaviouralist and trainer, Abby Jelley.

I currently have a large pack of dogs of my own which vary in breeds, ages and backgrounds. I wanted to learn more about training, nutrition and behaviour for their benefit so I began volunteering for various canine charities, shadowing local dog trainers and attending, then running my own fun dog shows and events. I began studying various online courses, and started my now vast library of dog related books! You can find out more details of all of my dogs on my social media pages, all under the name Suffolk Dog School.

I believe Continued Professional Development, is very important, so I will always pride myself on keeping up to date with my learning in all aspects of dog training, health, nutrition and behaviour. I will update this site with all my future educational endeavours!

I believe that you need to understand a dog's behaviour in order to train them effectively, and you need to know how to train in order to achieve desired behaviours.  I encourage positive, reward based training where your dog is set up for success and enjoy their training. They receive treats, toys, fuss and verbal praise. However, when a situation arises that may require a correction, then a suitable training technique will be applied, or taught. For example, a verbal or noise based interrupter. I DO NOT believe in harsh physical corrections.

Training should be about establishing a good relationship built on trust, understanding and a mutual respect between you and your dog. Have fun learning together!

I offer Dog Training Classes, One to Ones and Behavioural Consultations. I also offer monthly workshops which include Scent Work, Tracking, Pet Gun Dog Training and Dog Show School.

​

I also offer information based owner workshops such as Canine First Aid, Understanding Dogs Body Language, The Law and your dog, Getting ready to welcome a new dog in to your home, Living in a Multi Dog Household and General Dog Ownership.

I run fun dog events such as Fun Dog Shows, Pack Walks, Training Walks and Have a go fun Dog Activity and Sports Days. Hopefully something for everyone and everydog!

Dogs come into our lives to teach us about love, life and loyalty, our perfect companions with paws. So properly trained, owners can be their dogs best friend! Dogs are a result of their training, so learn with them, build an unbreakable bond and have fun!
